On August 16, 2025, Deputies with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division D Shift attempted to stop a motorcycle on Gray Branch Church Road in Deep Run after it was clocked at 74 mph in a 55 mph zone. The driver, identified as Toby Keith Griffin of Deep Run, continued for several miles before pulling over.
On August 16, 2025, at approximately 11:20 a.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s C-Squad were dispatched to Sarah’s House of Beauty, located on the 2400 block of North Herritage Street, in reference to a reported stabbing.
Kinston Police are urging the public to come forward with information in three separate cases, with rewards ranging from $10,000 to $25,000. All tips remain anonymous, and officials say community help is key to bringing justice.
A La Grange man has been charged in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found in a ditch along Paul’s Path Road in Lenoir County on Saturday afternoon.

Kinston Police Department Detectives have obtained warrants for Kendall Forbes, 21, of Lenoir County, in connection with a recent shooting incident. With assistance from the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office, Forbes was taken into custody during a traffic stop.
At approximately 7:03 a.m. today, officers with the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of gunfire on Herbert Drive. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a residence had been struck. Fortunately, no one was injured.

On August 3, 2025, at approximately 12:33 a.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s C-Squad observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on East Blount Street. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop, leading to a brief pursuit.
On August 2, 2025, at approximately 4:42 p.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s A-Squad conducted a traffic stop on Highway 258 North for a motor vehicle violation.
On August 2, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s A-Squad responded to a residence in the 500 block of North Queen Street in reference to a reported physical altercation.
On July 31, 2025, officers with the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from a residence on Tower Hill Road.
On July 30, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s B-Squad responded to a reported disturbance on the 900 block of Herbert Drive.
On the morning of July 27th, 2025, three individuals were captured on surveillance video breaking into First Light Guns & Ammo, located on North Caswell Street in La Grange.
On July 28, 2025, officers with the Kinston Police Department’s C-Squad responded to a residence in the 900 block of Cameron Drive to assist in locating 23-year-old William Alphin.
On July 10, 2025, at approximately 2:11 a.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of a drive-by shooting in the 1100 block of Ferndale Lane. Upon arrival, officers located a 42-year-old male victim who had sustained an injury to his right arm. The victim was transported to ECU Health for treatment. Further examination revealed the injury was caused by glass fragments, not a direct gunshot wound.
On July 29, 2025, Kinston Police Department Detectives continued their investigation into the July 26, 2025, attempted murder that occurred in Richard Green Court. As part of the ongoing case, detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence of 18-year-old Cameron Williams, located in Carver Courts.
