Three arrested following vehicle pursuit and methamphetamine seizure

On August 11, 2025, deputies with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for traffic violations along Highway 70 West, just outside of La Grange.

The driver refused to stop, leading deputies on a vehicle chase. During the pursuit, the front passenger began discarding methamphetamine from the vehicle. Moments later, the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a wooded area. The driver and front passenger fled on foot but were quickly apprehended by deputies. A third passenger remained in the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident.

The driver was identified as Tyquil Yates, 30, of Lenoir County; the fleeing passenger as Kenji Jerkins, 30, of Lenoir County; and the third passenger as Jasmine Mills, 24, of Lenoir County. Deputies recovered and seized approximately 196 grams of methamphetamine.

· Trafficking in Methamphetamine (x2)

· Conspire to Traffic Methamphetamine

· Alter/Steal/Destroy Criminal Evidence

· Possess Marijuana up to ½ Ounce

· Possess Drug Paraphernalia

· Resisting Public Officer

Bond: $250,000 Secured

Tyquil Yates

· Trafficking in Methamphetamine (x2)

· Flee/Elude Arrest with Motor Vehicle

· Conspire to Traffic Methamphetamine

· Possess Marijuana up to ½ Ounce

· Possess Drug Paraphernalia

· Resisting Public Officer

Bond: $250,000 Secured

Jasmine Mills

· Conspire to Traffic Methamphetamine

Bond: $10,000 Secured
