Traffic Stop Leads to Arrests and Seizure of Firearms and Drugs

On October 17, 2025, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes and Rapid Response Team (SCARR) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling into Lenoir County along NC-58 North near Taylor Heath Road. During the stop, deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle.

The search resulted in the discovery and seizure of two firearms, brass knuckles, psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, hallucinogenic edibles, and drug paraphernalia.

The driver, Dylan Long, 24, of Lenoir County, was arrested and charged with:

Felony Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance

Possession of Marijuana up to ½ oz

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Carrying a Concealed Gun

Carrying a Concealed Weapon

The passenger, Timothy Chase, 27, of Greene County, was arrested and charged with:

Felony Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance

Both individuals were transported to the Lenoir County Jail. Long received a $10,000 secured bond, while Chase was held without bond due to a pre-trial release hold.
