Kinston police charged two individuals with going armed to the terror of the people after responding to a report of armed individuals in the Jack Rountree area. In a separate incident, a Lenoir County man was arrested following an erratic driving stop on U.S. 70 and charged with DWI and multiple related offenses.
On October 17, 2025, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes and Rapid Response Team (SCARR) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling into Lenoir County along NC-58 North near Taylor Heath Road. During the stop, deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle.
On April 16, 2025, members of the Kinston Police Department’s SWAT Team and members of the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team executed three simultaneous search warrants at 404, 406, and 411 North Adkin Street, Kinston, N.C. The warrants were a result of a 3-month investigation into the illegal sale of crack cocaine from various individuals who occupied the properties.

John Marchand, 38, and Gina Luker, 45, were stopped by SCARR unit detectives for an equipment violation while the detectives were conducting proactive enforcement in the area of U.S. 258 North. During the stop, the detectives established probable cause for a search and located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
On September 3, 2024, Officers on D-Squad were patrolling the area of Jack Rountree Apartments. During this time, officers observed a vehicle parked with the door open. Officers approached the vehicle and made contact with Charles Cox (31 of Deep Run, NC) sitting in the back seat.
On Friday, August 30, 2024, Tyrone Artis (23 of Kinston) was arrested for his involvement in this incident. Artis was placed in the LC Jail under a secured bond
David Newsome, 44, and Tracy Newsome, 49, both of Kinston, were arrested last Thursday after allegedly stealing metal from a Judy Lane residence.
On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., members of the Kinston Police Department were dispatched to Holiday Inn Express, 1156 Hill Farm Rd. Kinston, N.C., in reference to the discovery of tenants manufacturing counterfeit money.
On March 8th, 2023, members of the Kinston Police Department were conducting proactive traffic enforcement in the area of Vernon Ave. Kinston, N.C. when officers noticed a black in color Nissan being operated with a fictitious registration and illegal window tint.
In response to complaints from citizens, the Kinston Police Department conducted an investigation related to a house within our community where drugs were being sold.
The Kinston Police Department continues to combat criminal violence in our city in which suspects use firearms to commit their crimes. KPD officers and investigators made several criminal arrests where guns were used in a crime for the month of July.
