Kinston drug investigation results in arrests and seizures

On April 16, 2025, members of the Kinston Police Department’s SWAT Team and members of the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team executed three simultaneous search warrants at 404, 406, and 411 North Adkin Street, Kinston, N.C. The warrants were a result of a 3-month investigation into the illegal sale of crack cocaine from various individuals who occupied the properties.

During the warrant service, officers apprehended 44-year-old Michael Hooks and 44-year-old Maurice Hooks, both from Kinston. The search led to the discovery of 28 grams of crack cocaine and marijuana. A third individual, Tobias Jones, 23, of Hookerton, was also arrested after he ran from officers due to an outstanding warrant for Resisting a Public Officer.

Michael and Maurice Hooks were charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Conspiring to Traffic Cocaine, Possession with the intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine and Marijuana, Felony Possession of Marijuana, and Maintaining a Dwelling for the Sale/Deliver a Controlled Substance. They were both placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.

This operation marks a critical step forward in our ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks in Kinston and surrounding communities. By targeting drug activity and acting on the results of an in-depth investigation, we aim to hold offenders accountable and to help restore safety and peace of mind to the neighborhoods affected.
