Robert Morris Goodman “Mr. Biddie”, 88, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2026. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, 11 AM, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Hookerton, NC. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 1 PM, at Westview Cemetery, in Kinston, NC. The family encourages anybody who would like to join at the cemetery to come.
Gerald Joseph Golden III, affectionately known by his church family as “Doc,” passed away unexpectedly at home with his wife by his side on Friday, October 2, 2026. A service of love and remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at New Direction Church, Snow Hill, with Pastor Matthew Galloway officiating.
Mr. Evander Hayes “Van” Willoughby, age 92, passed away Friday evening, October 2, 2026, at the NC State Veterans Home in Kinston. A native of Robeson County, he was born February 5, 1934, the son of Clegg Hall Willoughby and Lydia Pittman Willoughby.
Keith Edward Manning, 70, was graciously received into the arms of his Savior in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 30, 2026. A memorial service to honor Keith’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at White Oak Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Bob Smith officiating.
Murphy Frank McGirt, Jr, 89, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2026.

Mrs. Faith Wooten Nethercutt, age 87, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, September 24, 2026, at her home in the Hookerton Community. A native of Sampson County, she was born May 21, 1939, the daughter of James McKinnon and Annie Lou Wooten.

Charron Hollene (Pitts) Hearn passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at UNC Lenoir Hospital. She was born in Columbus, GA, to the late Hollis and Olene (Davis) Pitts on September 9, 1942. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, 4:00 PM, at Edwards Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A reception will be held at the family’s home following the service. Burial is private.

Visitation will be held at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, Wednesday, September 23, 2026, beginning at 1:00p.m., with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Whatley presiding. In death as in life, Thomas Walter Rouse, 69, answered the call of his Master, took His hand, and followed where He led. Entering into the joy of his salvation, new life for Thomas began on Sunday, September 6, 2026. Thomas was born in Lenoir County to the late J.B. and Shirley Rouse on August 29, 1957.
Mrs. Peggy Ham Clifton, age 69, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 4, 2026, following a brief battle with cancer. Born October 4, 1956, Peggy was the daughter of the late Lyman and Nannie Mae Ham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Ham.
