Obituary: Anne Daniels Gay
Anne Daniels Gay, 90, of Kinston, North Carolina, passed away on October 17, 2026. Born on January 30, 1936, in Greene County, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose life was marked by her devotion to family, her strong work ethic, and her involvement in her church community.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, 11 AM, at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston, NC. The family will receive friends following the service at the grave.
Anne dedicated much of her life to caring for her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her world. She also enjoyed a successful career as an office manager for Gay Construction and Millwork Company, where she worked more than 35 years. Her years of dedication and hard work reflected her commitment to the people and responsibilities that meant so much to her.
In addition to her love for family and work, Anne cherished her coastal home and enjoyed spending her summers at Emerald Isle for many years, creating treasured memories throughout the years. She was a devoted member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was very involved in Circle “7”. Her faith and church involvement were meaningful parts of her life.
Anne will be remembered for the love she gave her family, the time she devoted to those closest to her, and the lasting memories she created throughout her life. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Bitner, and husband Bob Bitner; her sons, Burton A. Gay II, and wife, Tammy Gay, and Ty A. Gay, and wife, Kimberly Malone Gay: and her many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Among her grandchildren are Megan G. Possiel and husband, Ben, of Wendell, NC; Ty Aubrey Gay Jr. and wife, Michelle, of LaGrange, NC; Andrew Blake Gay and wife, Shelby, of Kinston, NC; Samuel J. Gray and wife, Kiersten, of Holly Springs, NC; Virginia “Jenna” Dozier and husband, Tripp, of Newport, NC; Tyson Alexander Gay, of Newport, NC; and her great-grandchildren, Grayson, Charlotte, Daniel, Keegan, Jordy, Hollis, Avie, Maebrey, Huntley, Eloise, and Astor.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Burton A. “Pete” Gay; her parents, Frank Daniels and Lula Mae Daniels; her sister, Dorothy Wheeless; and her brothers, James Daniels and Charles Daniels.
