Bicyclist critically injured in crash on Herritage Street, police say

On October 20, 2025, officers from KPD’s A-Squad responded to the intersection of Herritage Street and Daniels Street in reference to a vehicle versus bicyclist crash.

The investigation revealed that both the vehicle and the bicyclist were traveling north on Herritage Street. As the vehicle attempted to pass, the bicyclist swerved into the lane of travel and struck the vehicle. Both the vehicle and the bicyclist came to a stop in the roadway.

The bicyclist, identified as Kent Moore, 71, of Kinston, was transported to ECU Health where he remains in critical condition.

Based on video evidence and witness statements, officers determined that the crash was caused by Moore’s actions. The driver of the vehicle, Johnny Larry, 70, of Kinston, was not found to have contributed to the crash.
