Kinston Police arrest driver following vehicle pursuit
On August 3, 2025, at approximately 12:33 a.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s C-Squad observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on East Blount Street. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop, leading to a brief pursuit.
The pursuit concluded when the driver, identified as 36-year-old Kortez Hart, stopped the vehicle in a field. Hart was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lenoir County Jail. He is charged with the following offenses:
-No Operator’s License
-Flee to Elude Arrest with a Motor Vehicle
-Multiple Traffic Offenses
In accordance with North Carolina law, Hart’s vehicle was seized under the state’s “Flee to Elude” provisions.
