Traffic stop leads to drug arrests
On August 2, 2025, at approximately 4:42 p.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s A-Squad conducted a traffic stop on Highway 258 North for a motor vehicle violation.
The driver, identified as 65-year-old William Deeming of Lenoir County, was taken into custody on an outstanding order for arrest unrelated to the traffic stop.
During the course of the investigation, officers discovered methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The passenger, 25-year-old Jason Register of Lenoir County, was arrested and charged with the following:
-Possession of Methamphetamines
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Both individuals were transported to the Lenoir County Jail.
