One Arrested for Meth Possession Following Traffic Stop
On August 16, 2025, Deputies with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division D Shift attempted to stop a motorcycle on Gray Branch Church Road in Deep Run after it was clocked at 74 mph in a 55 mph zone. The driver, identified as Toby Keith Griffin of Deep Run, continued for several miles before pulling over.
During the stop, deputies discovered the motorcycle’s license plate was listed as lost/stolen. A consent search led to the recovery of suspected crystal methamphetamine hidden inside a folded $5 bill in a wallet stored on the motorcycle. Griffin was placed under arrest.
He was transported to the W.E. “Billy” Smith Detention Center where he was charged with:

(F) Possession of Methamphetamine
(M) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Griffin received a $5,000 secured bond for the Narcotic related charges.
Additional Citations: Speeding, Fail to Heed Light or Siren, No Operator’s License, No Motorcycle Endorsement, Failure to Register Vehicle, and No Liability Insurance.
