Kinston Police Department: Arrest made following armed disturbance

On August 18, 2025, at approximately 10:18 p.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s B-Squad responded to the Carver Court area in reference to a report of a female subject banging on doors and stating she was “looking for someone to shoot.”

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a resident who provided a detailed description of the subject. Officers soon observed a female, identified as Monecka Lowry, 45, of Kinston, walking with a group of individuals and matching the description provided.

When officers approached Lowry and attempted to detain her, she became resistant and refused to comply with commands. Officers were able to safely take her into custody. During the arrest, a concealed firearm was located inside her bag.

Lowry was transported to the Lenoir County Jail and charged with:

-Carrying a Concealed Gun

She was held under a secured bond.
