LCSAEOP Names Heath Office Professional of the Year, Jones Administrator of the Year

The Lenoir County Schools Association of Educational Office Professionals (LCSAEOP) gathered last Thursday for its annual banquet, a celebration of service, scholarship, and excellence across the district. The event featured the installation of new officers, recognition of student scholarship recipients, and the presentation of two of the organization’s highest honors: Educational Office Professional of the Year and Administrator of the Year.

Isaiah 38: 2-5 is a scripture I want to recommend to Joe and Jill Biden. Verse 5 in particular is instructive. In it, God says "I have heard thy prayer."  That line resonates with me because we are not just throwing up our words into thin air when we pray. We are sending them to a listening ear. And that ear is connected to a caring heart that forgives and renders massive mercy.

Dorothy Mae “Dot” Whaley Gaskins peacefully entered into the joy of her salvation on Saturday, May 17, 2025, after a long and meaningful life filled with love, faith, and devotion to her family. A service of love and remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025 by the graveside at Pinelawn Memorial Park with Pastor Bill Rose officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Contentnea-Savannah Joins Frink, Northwest in State STEM recommendation

Contentnea-Savannah joins list of schools recommended for state STEM distinction Contentnea-Savannah K-8 School has been added to a growing list of Lenoir County Public Schools campuses recommended to the State Board of Education for recognition as North Carolina STEM Schools of Distinction—joining earlier recommendations for E.B. Frink Middle School and Northwest Elementary.

Friends of the Library Conduct Love Your Library! Raffle

The Kinston-Lenoir County Friends of the Library are conducting a Love Your Library! Fundraising raffle to support programming at the Kinston-Lenoir County, La Grange, and Pink Hill Public Libraries. For a donation of $50, all participants will be entered into a one-time virtual drawing for $1,000 to be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Assorted door prizes will also be awarded to participants.

Help Wanted: Mathematics Instructor

The Mathematics Instructor is responsible for providing adequate, engaging, and challenging, yet appropriate, mathematics instruction to LCC students through the use of seated, online, and lab courses. Through one-on-one and whole group instruction, the Instructor will ensure that students are able to successfully complete degree requirements in an engaging environment, while also advising students towards degree completion and promoting the College in the surrounding community.
