Traffic stop leads to drug and firearm arrests

Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Firearm Arrests

On May 17, 2025, at approximately 5:20 p.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad conducted a traffic stop on Cunningham Road for motor vehicle violations. During the stop, officers observed indicators of narcotics activity inside the vehicle.

A subsequent investigation led to the discovery of over 100 grams of marijuana, U.S. currency, illegally concealed firearms, and drug paraphernalia.

As a result, officers arrested Ryan Towler, 25, of Havelock, and Savion Towler, 20, of Kinston. Both individuals were charged with the following:

• Felony Possession of Schedule VI (Marijuana)

• Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana (PWISD)

• Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia

Additionally, Ryan Towler was charged with multiple motor vehicle violations.
