Man arrested after disturbance at local convenience store
On May 18, 2025, at approximately 5:41 PM, officers from the Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad responded to a 911 call regarding a report of indecency at the Circle K located at 509 E. New Bern Road.
Upon arrival, officers located Joseph Bailey, 39, of Kinston, inside the store wearing only underwear. Store staff advised officers that they wished for Bailey to leave the property due to his inappropriate attire.
When officers asked Bailey to leave, he became agitated, began yelling, and refused to comply with lawful commands. As officers attempted to take him into custody, Bailey resisted and assaulted officers.
He was ultimately taken into custody and transported to the Lenoir County Jail, where he was charged with the following offenses:
• Second Degree Trespass
• Felony Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer
• Intoxicated and Disruptive
At the time of this release, Bailey remains in custody at the Lenoir County Jail.
