Greene County Commissioners Approved School Budget Ordinance, Nominated Jones to NCGTP Economic Development Region Board

The Greene County Board of Commissioners approved a budget ordinance for the planned Greene County Elementary School, nominated Vice-Chairman Jerry Jones to the North Carolina Global Transpark Economic Development Region Council, and agreed to a sponsorship for the Snow Hill Tennis and Golf Tournament when the board met at the Greene County Operations Center in Snow Hill on Monday, August 3, 2026.

Friends of the Homeless Shelter Named a Finalist in WoodmenLife $6,000 Community Champions Contest

Friends of the Homeless Shelter has been named a finalist in the Community Champions contest sponsored by Omaha, Neb.-based WoodmenLife, a champion of family, community, and country since 1890. The Kinston, N.C.-based not-for-profit organization is one of five finalists in the running for a $6,000 Grand Prize donation to support its emergency shelter and temporary housing for homeless and displaced individuals and families in the Kinston area.
