UNC Health Lenoir Announces Reuben Horace, DO, MBA, MPH, as Chief Medical Officer
UNC Health Lenoir is pleased to announce that Reuben Horace, DO, MBA, MPH has accepted the role of Chief Medical Officer, effective September 14, 2026.
Dr. Horace brings a unique combination of clinical experience, healthcare leadership, and a passion for improving patient care in community hospitals. He earned his medical degree from NYIT at Arkansas State University, following his undergraduate studies at Boston University. He also holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Public Health from Brown University and completed his emergency medicine training at Duke University.
Dr. Horace was drawn to UNC Health Lenoir because of its strong reputation for serving the community, its dedicated medical staff and teammates, and the organizationโs commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare close to home. As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Horace will focus on supporting the medical staff, strengthening physician recruiting and engagement, and ensuring high quality, safe healthcare.

Dr. Horace will be moving into the community with his wife, Natalie, and his 18-month-old son, Theodore. Outside of work, Dr. Horace enjoys hiking, golfing, tennis, and grilling. The family looks forward to becoming a part of the community.
