Snow Hill Primary gives out a weekly award called "Terrific Kid" awards. Each teacher at SHP chooses a student who has been responsible, shows great character, or has reached a personal goal. Mrs. Faith Wooten Nethercutt, age 87, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, September 24, 2026, at her home in the Hookerton Community. A native of Sampson County, she was born May 21, 1939, the daughter of James McKinnon and Annie Lou Wooten.

Charron Hollene (Pitts) Hearn passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at UNC Lenoir Hospital. She was born in Columbus, GA, to the late Hollis and Olene (Davis) Pitts on September 9, 1942. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, 4:00 PM, at Edwards Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A reception will be held at the family’s home following the service. Burial is private.
Anita Waters Deaver, 80, peacefully completed her earthly time and entered her eternal home on Sunday, September 20, 2026. A graveside service to remember Anita’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, with Pastor Steve Dixon officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
