Lenoir County Sex Offender Arrested for Registration Violations

On September 18th, 2026 Virgil Todd Chase, 45, of Lenoir County was arrested for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements under North Carolina law.

The investigation began on September 17th, 2026, after the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office General Investigations Division received information that Chase was in violation of the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry requirements. Detectives conducted an investigation and determined that Chase had failed to report in person to notify the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office of obtaining a new online identifier within the required timeframe as required by law.

As a result of the investigation, Chase was charged with the following offense:

• One Count of Felony Failure to Report in Person

Chase received a $100,000 secured bond for the charge.
