Obituary: Virginia Wright Peede
Virginia Wright Peede, 90, of La Grange, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
Virginia was a devoted wife and a loving, caring woman whose family meant more to her than anything. She was married for 64 years to the love of her life, Robert Peede. Throughout her life, Virginia found her greatest joy in being surrounded by the people she loved.
She had a special place in her heart for cooking, especially when she was preparing meals for those she loved. Her kitchen was a place where family could gather, share stories, enjoy a good meal, and make lasting memories. Virginia also provided childcare to many children over the years. She loved and cared for each of them as though they were her very own, leaving a lasting impression on the many families whose lives she touched.
Virginia was a faithful attendee of Kinston First Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she worshipped and enjoyed the fellowship of her church family.
Above all, Virginia will be remembered for her love of family, her caring heart, and the kindness she showed to others. The love she gave so freely throughout her 90 years will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Robin Jean Shingleton of the home; son, Robert Eugene Peede and wife Tiffany of La Grange; sisters, June Clements of Sycamore, GA, Christine Harris of Kinston, and Sharon Addison of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Bryan Shingleton, Timothy Shingleton, Brooks Shingleton, Logan Peede (Somer), Joshua Shingleton, Connor Peede, Abbey Peede, and Natalee Peede, and; 6 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Peede; son, Robert Earl Peede Jr; brother, Wendell Wright; sisters, Cleo Garris and JoAnn Hudson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 3:00 pm. until 5:00 p.m. at Howard-Carter Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Rogers officiating. Burial will follow the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
