Lenoir County Sex Offender Arrested for Registration Violations

On June 5, 2026, Joshua Preece, 45, of Lenoir County, was arrested for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements under North Carolina law.

The investigation began on December 18, 2025, after the Lenoir County Sheriffโ€™s Office General Investigations Division received information that Preece was in violation of the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry requirements. Detectives conducted an investigation and determined that Preece had failed to notify the Lenoir County Sheriffโ€™s Office of a change of address as required by law.

As a result of the investigation, Preece was charged with the following offense:

โ€ข One Count of Felony Failure to Report a New Address by a Sex Offender

Preece was placed in the Lenoir County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.
