Obituary: Faith Wooten Nethercutt
Mrs. Faith Wooten Nethercutt, age 87, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, September 24, 2026, at her home in the Hookerton Community. A native of Sampson County, she was born May 21, 1939, the daughter of James McKinnon and Annie Lou Wooten.
Faith grew up in the Spivey’s Corner Community of Sampson County, and it was her late husband, Ray Thomas Nethercutt, that led her to Greene County. Together they made a home near Hookerton and became a part of the Hookerton Christian Church. Faith retired from Hillco where she worked in accounting and accounts payable.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray Thomas Nethercutt in 2007; a sister who had also made her home in Hookerton, Brenda W. Carraway; brothers, Jimmy Wooten and Dean Wooten; and sister-in-law, Betsy Nethercutt Creech Bond.
Faith is survived by her sons, Ray Thomas Nethercutt, Jr. (Deanna) of Aiken, South Carolina, and James Scott Nethercutt of Hookerton; grandchildren, Allan Nethercutt (Brandy) of Hookerton, Matthew Thomas Nethercutt (Amanda) of Burgaw, Nicholas Nethercutt (Brooke) of Kinston, and Elizabeth Nethercutt Gwyn (Theo) of Lexington, South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Thomas Reed Nethercut, Joseph Nethercutt, Leah Rae Nethercutt, Hudson Nethercutt, and one on the way that is due in November; sisters, Beverly Carruth of Topsail and Jane Parker of Charlotte; brothers, Wallace Wooten, Kent Wooten, and Ricky Wooten all of Newton Grove, and Thomas Wooten of Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Kathy Oakes, Brenda Albritton, Linda Hines, and Hilda McLawhorn; and several special nieces and nephews of the Wooten and Nethercutt families.
Funeral services will be held graveside at 2:30 PM Sunday, September 27th, at the Hookerton Fellowship Church Cemetery with Pastor Allen Ham officiating. Visitation with the family will be at the cemetery after the service, and at other times at the Nethercutt residence in Hookerton.
