It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our son, William Southerland Cunningham IV, known to his friends and family as Wes and as Uncle Bub, to all his nieces and nephews. Wes passed away on October 8, 2026, at his home in Lynchburg, Virginia, at the age of 55. Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, Virginia is assisting the family.
Stewart Perry, a gifted athlete, devoted coach, woman of deep faith, and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died on October 12, 2026 from complications with Parkinson’s Disease. She was 73.
Mrs. Faith Wooten Nethercutt, age 87, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, September 24, 2026, at her home in the Hookerton Community. A native of Sampson County, she was born May 21, 1939, the daughter of James McKinnon and Annie Lou Wooten.

Entering into the joy of his salvation, new life for Thomas began on Sunday, September 6, 2026. Thomas was born in Lenoir County to the late J.B. and Shirley Rouse on August 29, 1957.
Thomas Christopher “Chris” West, 54, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Chris was born in Wayne County to the late T.C. and Ellen Gray West on May 27, 1972.
Linda Jo Reason Riggs, 74, entered through the heavenly gates to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 31, 2026. She was born in Richmond, Virginia, to the late James and Virginia Reason on November 5, 1951.
Mrs. Linda Rouse Rice, 78, of Leesburg, Georgia, formerly of Grifton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Willson Hospice House.
The faith believed, taught, and lived by Rev. Billy Gray Sullivan, Sr., 91, led him to his home eternal on Monday, August 10, 2026. Billy was born in Johnston County to the late Larry “Fet” and Melissa Alice Watkins Sullivan on July 14, 1935.
Mr. Edward Earl “Eddie” Horton, Jr., age 79, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, August 5, 2026, at his home in Kinston, surrounded by his loving wife and only child. His passing followed a brief, courageous battle with metastatic melanoma cancer.
Rev. James “Jimmy” Herbert Miller Jr., 98, went home to be with his Lord on July 1st, 2026. He was a United Methodist minister for over 40 years, serving in the NC Conference, where he was currently the oldest living member.
Rosa Ann Osborne Chaney went to heaven on June 25th, 2026 while surrounded by her loved ones. Born on August 16, 1937, in Halifax County, Virginia, Rosa lived a life defined by faith, family, friendship, and service.

Myra Gail Lee Quinn, 66, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Born in Lenoir County on November 30, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Robert David Lee and Elizabeth Smith Edmundson.
Margie Croom Coley, 72, passed away on Saturday, March 28, at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina, after a long and fierce battle with cancer. Cynthia K. “Cindy” Whitney, 66, of Dover, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
A memorial service to celebrate Cindy’s life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Dover Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior, at 10:00 a.m., in the church fellowship hall.
