Obituary: Margie Croom Coley

Kinston – Margie Croom Coley, 72, passed away on Saturday, March 28, at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina, after a long and fierce battle with cancer. She was surrounded by many loving family members including her husband and soulmate of 47 years, Donald Coley and son Eric and wife Suzanne, as she moved on to eternity.

Margie loved the beach, fishing in their boat, traveling in their RV, the mountains, and spending time at their home away from home, in Surf City, NC. She worked for many years at the Wilmington State Ports, substitute teaching, and she became a Real Estate specialist in Kinston. However, the role she loved the most was being a wife to Donald and a mother to their two sons, Kevin and Eric. Margie had many adventures in her short life with her husband, Donald. Relocating from Wilmington to Seaford, Delaware, in 1984, to Martinsville, VA, in 1992, and finally to Kinston, NC, where she currently resided when Donald’s job offered them the opportunity to return closer to home and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Edith Croom; her brother, Jimmy Croom; and a niece, Brittany Williamson.

Margie leaves behind her devoted husband, Donald; sons, Kevin Coley and Eric Coley (Suzanne); siblings, Debbie Moore, Linda Williamson (Joey) and Sharon Johnson (Maurice); and many nieces and nephews who were by her side.

She will be missed beyond words…her wisdom, compassion, gentleness, presence, love, and the sweet sound of her voice will remain in the hearts of all that knew her.

A private service will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. 930-B Wellness Dr, Greenville, NC 27834.
