Obituary: Cynthia K. “Cindy” Whitney

Cynthia K. “Cindy” Whitney, 66, of Dover, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on January 30, 1959, in Lansing, Michigan, Cindy grew up in Grand Ledge, Michigan, and graduated from Grand Ledge High School. She later made her home in Dover, North Carolina, where she built a life filled with love, laughter, and faith alongside her high school sweetheart and husband of 42 years, Ron Whitney, Jr.

Cindy dedicated much of her career to the medical field, where she worked in administrative and support roles with Kinston Radiologists and UNC Urology at Lenoir. Known for her reliability and compassion, she took great pride in helping patients and coworkers alike. Beyond her work, Cindy was a devoted member of Dover Methodist Church, where her faith and kindness touched the lives of many. She was always willing to lend a hand—whether helping with church events, supporting community activities, or caring for friends and family in times of need.

She found joy in life’s simple moments—putting together puzzles, spending time at the beach, and gathering at the lake or river with her dear friends. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Cindy will be remembered for her kindness, her warm and welcoming spirit, her beautiful smile, and the love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her husband, Ron; her sons, Ryan and Tyler (wife Ashley); and her cherished grandchildren, Austin, Miles, and Ella. She is also survived by many other close family members and dear friends. Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Richard E. ’Dick’ Kleinfelt; her mother, Marian Kleinfelt; and her brother, Richard E. Kleinfelt, Jr.

A memorial service to celebrate Cindy’s life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Dover Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior, at 10:00 a.m., in the church fellowship hall.

In keeping with Cindy’s generous and caring spirit, the family invites those wishing to honor her memory to make a donation to Dover Methodist Church or to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, in lieu of flowers.

“A life with love is a life that’s been lived.”
