Obituary - Marianna D. Hill

Dover - Marianna D. Hill, 95, passed away at Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport on Thursday, May 11, 2023. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 11am at Lane’s Chapel Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Marianna was born on March 9, 1928, in Lenoir County to the late John Odell and Lucy Hill Daughety. She received her early education in Lenoir County and attended Atlantic Christian College. After graduation, she married Clee Hill and embarked on a career at Production Credit in Kinston, followed by her returning home to raise her two children and help with their family farming business.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marianna spent all her married life in Craven County. She was a faithful member of Lane’s Chapel Church where she was passionate about her church, serving as treasurer, chairperson of the Bazaar committee, President of the Methodist Women and served as President of Woodmen of the World Chapter 1353, all for over 50 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn H. Rutz (Donald) and Rhonda Lynn Hill; grandson, Dylan Clee Hardison (Jessie); great-grandchildren, Hailey, Jenna, and Amy Hardison; sister, Edna D. King; as well as her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clee Hill; and her sister, Marcia D. Hatchell.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for all acts of kindness shown to them during their time of bereavement. Your love, prayers, visits, and memorial tributes are greatly appreciated.
