Kinston City Council is scheduled to consider adoption of the city’s fiscal year 2026-27 budget during its regular meeting Tuesday, June 16.
LA GRANGE— On the heels of the 79th Annual Tony Awards, a musical with roots right here in Lenoir County is experiencing the success of a lifetime. Nygel D. Robinson of LaGrange, N.C. is a graduate of the North Lenoir High School Drama Department and went on to co-write, compose, and star in a two-man show called Mexodus that has spent the season beating out full-production Broadway spectacles to win 15 major theatre awards, including Best Musical honors from four of the country’s most respected awards programs.

Officers with the Kinston Police Department's A-Squad responded to Mitchell Wooten Apartments in reference to an active breaking and entering. With assistance from the KPD Crime Lab and Investigations Division, officers quickly identified, detained, and ultimately arrested several individuals involved in the incident.
On June 10, 2026, the Kinston Police Department requested the public's assistance in identifying a subject involved in a larceny at Handy Mart. Following the release of the photo, officers received numerous tips from community members and responded to additional reports involving the same subject committing larcenies at two other businesses.
