On June 14, 2025, officers with the Kinston Police Department’s B-Squad received information that 44-year-old Shakiema Clemmons, of Lenoir County, was wanted by Pitt County authorities and was hiding in an apartment on the 4000 block of North Heritage Street.
On June 14, 2025, at approximately 4:19 p.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s B-Squad received information regarding the whereabouts of 26-year-old Montaris Johnson, who was wanted in connection with a 2024 fraud investigation.
On June 13, 2025, at approximately 5:59 p.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a utility pole on Old Snow Hill Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the driver had left the scene prior to their arrival.
Susan Elizabeth Coward, 73, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, June 12, 2025. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at New Testament Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
