Vehicle crash leads to DWI arrest
On June 13, 2025, at approximately 5:59 p.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a utility pole on Old Snow Hill Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the driver had left the scene prior to their arrival.
Through investigation, officers identified the driver as 61-year-old Willie Hardy of Kinston. Hardy was located at his residence a short time later. Based on observations and evidence, officers suspected impairment and conducted a DWI investigation.
As a result, Hardy was determined to have been the driver at the time of the crash and was found to be impaired. He was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving While Impaired, along with multiple traffic citations.
The Kinston Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is a serious offense and poses a danger to everyone on the roadway.
