Vehicle Crash Leads to DWI Arrest
On May 9, 2025, at approximately 1:04 a.m., officers from the Kinston Police Department’s B-Squad responded to a reported vehicle crash in the 600 block of Marcella Drive.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle that had collided with a utility pole. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time. A witness at the scene provided officers with a description of the suspect and the direction of travel.
Officers canvassed the area and located a subject matching the description—identified as Vaughn Greene, 58, of Kinston—walking near the crash site. Upon contact, officers observed clear signs of impairment and initiated a further investigation.
As a result, Greene was arrested and charged with Driving While Impaired. He was transported to the Lenoir County Jail, where he was held under a secured bond.
“Driving while impaired is a serious offense that puts lives at risk. We are thankful no one was injured in this incident, but it serves as a reminder of the dangers impaired driving poses to our community. The Kinston Police Department remains committed to enforcing DWI laws and promoting safe driving habits throughout our city.” – Chief Keith Goyette
