Fugitive arrested after attempting to flee from officers

On June 14, 2025, officers with the Kinston Police Department’s B-Squad received information that 44-year-old Shakiema Clemmons, of Lenoir County, was wanted by Pitt County authorities and was hiding in an apartment on the 4000 block of North Heritage Street.

Clemmons was wanted for fleeing from Pitt County Superior Court just prior to being sentenced for a felony hit and run charge.

KPD officers responded to the location, surrounded the residence, and took Clemmons into custody as she attempted to flee out the back door. She was transported to the Lenoir County Jail, where she was held without bond.

The Kinston Police Department continues to work closely with surrounding jurisdictions to ensure wanted individuals are held accountable.
