Trespassing call leads to assault on officers

On April 26, 2025, at approximately 7:13 p.m., officers from the Kinston Police Department’s A-Squad responded to a 911 call regarding a trespassing incident at an apartment in the Simon Bright community. The caller reported that an individual was trespassing and "causing problems," and provided officers with the subject’s name and clothing description.

Lenoir Community College to Lead Reentry Efforts in Lenoir, Greene, and Jones Counties

Lenoir Community College has been awarded a contract by the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction to serve as the lead agency for the Reentry Council of Lenoir, Greene, and Jones Counties. As the official Intermediary Agency, LCC will provide administrative support and coordination for the Council’s efforts to help individuals successfully transition from incarceration back into their communities.

Obituary: H.Louie Eargle

H. Louie Eargle of Waxhaw and Kinston, NC, passed away September 1, 2024, in Chapel Hill of complications from a fall. He was 92 years old. Louie will be remembered as a loving uncle, an accomplished musician, raconteur, and loyal friend.
