UNC Health Lenoir Honors Dedicated Volunteers During National Volunteer Week
In celebration of National Volunteer Week (April 20–26, 2025), UNC Health Lenoir proudly recognizes and celebrates the extraordinary individuals who selflessly give their time and energy to support our patients, staff, and the entire hospital community.
Every day, UNC Health Lenoir’s volunteers provide essential support that touches lives and strengthens the patient experience for everyone who walks through our doors. From welcoming visitors and guiding patients to offering comfort and companionship, their compassion and commitment embody the true spirit of service.
“Our volunteers are the heart of this hospital,” said Jane Hanrahan, Volunteer Services Director at UNC Health Lenoir. “They bring warmth, kindness, and calm in what can often be stressful moments. Their impact goes far beyond the tasks they perform—they uplift our patients and staff in ways that can’t always be measured but are deeply felt.”
In 2024, more than 95 volunteers contributed over 14,500 hours of service to UNC Health Lenoir. These devoted individuals range from high school students gaining early exposure to healthcare to retirees giving back to their community after long and impactful careers. Many volunteers have been with the hospital for over a decade, providing consistent and compassionate support throughout the years.
“As we recognize National Volunteer Week, we want each and every volunteer to know how valued and appreciated they are,” said Dr. Crystal Hayden, President and CEO of UNC Health Lenoir. “You are a vital part of our mission to serve and care for this community. Your time and heart make all the difference.”
UNC Health Lenoir extends its deepest gratitude to these everyday heroes who give generously of themselves and invites others in the community to consider joining this inspiring team of volunteers.
