Recovery requires community

Over the years of working in recovery courts and with folks in recovery, I have learned that everybody’s recovery is different.  Some are able to be substance free quickly, some it may take months.  Being able to sustain abstinence long term is even more challenging. 

Snow Hill Commissioners vote to disband police department

SNOW HILL — The Town of Snow Hill has officially voted to disband its municipal police department, choosing instead to contract with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement services. In a special meeting held Monday at 5 p.m., the Board of Commissioners voted 3-2 against a motion to keep the local department intact. Commissioners Daniels, Washington, and Shackleford voted in favor of dissolving the police department, while Commissioners Andrews and Wilkes opposed the measure.

Lenoir County Well-Represented as NCHSAA Releases 2025 State Championship Baseball and Softball Schedules

For the first time in history, two Lenoir County teams are headed to their respective NCHSAA State Championship Series at the same time—and the stage is officially set. The North Carolina High School Athletic Association announced that the 2025 Baseball State Championships will be held at Burlington Athletic Park and the Softball Championships will take place at UNCG Softball Stadium in Greensboro.
