Disturbance at Pink Hill Elementary Leads to Four Arrests

A disturbance at Pink Hill Elementary School this afternoon led to a temporary lockdown at the school and the arrests of three adults and charges against a juvenile by the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office.

The adults — Jamil Blount, 43; Ariel Rodriguez, 33; and Lasherri Sutton, 44 — are from Deep Run. The juvenile, a 16-year-old, was also from Deep Run. The adults were charged with disorderly conduct on school property while the juvenile will face charges for disorderly conduct in a school.

Sutton received a $1,000 secured bond while Blount and Rodriguez received no bond due to being on pretrial release. The 16-year-old received a juvenile petition and was released to an adult.

The disturbance, which started as a verbal altercation, escalated to the point where law enforcement was called to intervene. Agencies responding to the school included the LCSO, the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office, the Pink Hill Police Department and the State Highway Patrol. The law enforcement agencies secured the area quickly and no injuries were reported.

The lockdown was lifted after officers confirmed there was no ongoing threat and school operations resumed shortly thereafter.

“We will not stand for this type of behavior at any Lenoir County Public School,” Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers said. “The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority. We will take swift action against anyone who threatens that environment.”

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
