Duplin County man arrested after fleeing from Pink Hill and found with altered firearm.
A vehicle chase that started in Pink Hill and finished in Duplin County ended with the DWI arrest of a Duplin County felon who illegally had a firearm with an altered serial number.
William Denmark, 37, was speeding in a vehicle in Pink Hill when Street Crimes and Rapid Response (SCARR) detectives attempted to pull him over. He failed to stop and led the unit on a vehicle chase to his address on Mill Creek Lane, where the SCARR unit took him into custody without incident.
During the arrest, detectives located a firearm with an altered serial number, as well as an additional weapon in Denmark’s possession. The investigation revealed he had previous felony convictions for murder and kidnapping in West Virginia.
Denmark was also found to be under the influence during the arrest. He was arrested and charged with several traffic violations along with:
· Felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
· Felony possession of a firearm with an altered serial number
· Felony flee to elude
· Misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun
· Misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon
· Misdemeanor DWI
Denmark was booked into the Lenoir County Jail with a $130,000 secured bond.
