Lenoir County Well-Represented as NCHSAA Releases 2025 State Championship Baseball and Softball Schedules

For the first time in history, two Lenoir County teams are headed to their respective NCHSAA State Championship Series at the same time—and the stage is officially set. The North Carolina High School Athletic Association announced that the 2025 Baseball State Championships will be held at Burlington Athletic Park and the Softball Championships will take place at UNCG Softball Stadium in Greensboro. Each best-of-three series will run from Friday, May 30 through Saturday, May 31.And for Lenoir County, the road to this moment has been years in the making.

2A Baseball Championship at Burlington Athletic Park

South Lenoir (23-4) will face off against a powerhouse East Rutherford squad (28-1) in the 2A Baseball Championship—marking the Blue Devils’ first-ever trip to the state finals. The Blue Devils have captivated Deep Run and surrounding communities with a postseason run defined by grit, timely hitting, and elite pitching performances. The schedule for the 2A baseball series is: Game 1: Friday, May 30 @ 5:00 p.m. Game 2: Saturday, May 31 @ 11:00 a.m. Game 3 (if necessary): Saturday, May 31 @ 5:00 p.m. All games will be played at Burlington Athletic Park and can also be streamed live on the NFHS Network.

2A Softball Championship at UNCG Stadium

Meanwhile, the North Lenoir Hawks (20-3) will return to the state finals for the first time since capturing the 2A State Championship in 2005. Led by a powerful lineup and a lockdown pitching rotation, the Hawks are set to square off against West Wilkes (25-3) in what promises to be a hard-fought series. The softball schedule is identical: Game 1: Friday, May 30 @ 5:00 p.m. Game 2: Saturday, May 31 @ 11:00 a.m. Game 3 (if necessary): Saturday, May 31 @ 5:00 p.m. All softball games will be held at the UNCG Softball Stadium in Greensboro and will also stream live on the NFHS Network.

Admission and Coverage

Admission is $20 for a Weekend Series Pass, $8 for Friday Single Game Ticket only, and $12 for Saturday Pass only, giving fans access to one of the most exciting weekends of high school athletics in the state.
