Obituary: Shirley Marie Heath

Kinston- Shirley Marie Heath, 90, passed away May 26, 2025, at home surrounded by her family.

The funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Edwards Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Shirley was born March 4, 1935, to Roscoe and Beatrice Carter Lee. She graduated from B.F. Grady School and went on to work at Frosty Morn and Roses. After retiring, she found joy in babysitting her grandchildren and cherishing the time spent with them.

A devoted member of First Original Free Will Baptist Church, Shirley’s faith was an important part of her life. She was well known for her exceptional cooking, especially her chicken salad and coconut cake. She also loved quilting, reading, and never passed up a good card game.

In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, David Heath Jr.; sister, Elaine Stroud; and granddaughter, Rachael Nottonson.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Annette Salyards (Robert) of Ligonier, PA; Angie Nottonson of Kinston; Andrea Grant (Frank) of Snow Hill; sister, Margie Stroud of Deep Run; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her breakfast friends of Hardee’s.
