Parks and Recreation offering community extra transportation for Kinston’s State Championship game
Kinston/Lenoir County Parks and Recreation will provide additional transportation for fans traveling to Durham on Saturday, Dec. 13, for the NCHSAA 3A State Championship game. A bus will depart from the Holloway Center at 9 a.m., offering residents a convenient way to support Kinston High School as the Vikings compete for the title.
Seats are available by reservation. Anyone interested in riding may contact the Holloway Center at 252-939-3362 for more information or to secure a spot.
There is also a bus leaving from Kinston High School at 9:00 am provided by Church of Faith and Deliverance. Contact Stacy Heath at 252-521-3331 for more information.
The transportation effort is being supported by the Kinston Police Department, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, Lenoir Community College, local nonprofits including Kinston Strong and the Freedom Classic, and individual contributors David Edwards, Les Lipford, Stacy Heath, Pearl Hardy, and others.
Kinston will face its opponent at Durham County Memorial Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m. Officials have noted that all Kinston fans must enter through the stadium’s east side gate via Wisteria Avenue. A clear bag policy will be in effect, and concessions and parking will be cashless.
Saturday’s trip marks a community-backed effort to help fans “roll deep,” as Kinston prepares for its first appearance in the state championship since winning the 2011 title game.
Tickets into game are $20.
