Kinston man arrested after stolen vehicle

On February 14, 2026, officers with the Kinston Police Department’s A-Squad were notified of a stolen vehicle in the area of Vernon Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Officers responded to the area and located the stolen vehicle in a parking lot in the 900 block of West Vernon Avenue. Officers maintained surveillance and observed 41-year-old Virgil Hart return to the vehicle.

Officers approached and took Hart into custody without incident. He was charged with Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle.

Hart was later released after posting bond.
