Wanted Lenoir County man arrested after fleeing traffic stop

On February 13, 2026, at approximately 4:31 p.m., detectives with the Kinston Police Department’s VCAT Unit observed a white Dodge Charger traveling south on Old Snow Hill Road. Detectives had received information from a community source that 25-year-old Brandon Tripp, who was wanted, was a passenger in the vehicle. Detectives were aware that Tripp had an active probation warrant for his arrest.

Detectives conducted a traffic stop on the 1300 block of Hyman Avenue. As the vehicle came to a stop, Tripp exited the passenger side and fled on foot. Detectives pursued him and, after a brief foot pursuit, took him into custody without further incident.

In addition to the outstanding probation warrant, Tripp was charged with the following:

- Resisting a Public Officer

- Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance (Fentanyl)

- Possession of a Controlled Substance Within a Confinement Facility

Tripp remains in custody at the Lenoir County Jail.
