UPS Kinston facility to close Jan. 12, employees to be reassigned

The Kinston UPS Hub on Summit Avenue will permanently close on Jan. 12, according to Teamsters Local 391.

Following required regulatory approvals, Airbus officially commenced operations today at the Kinston, North Carolina, facility previously owned by Spirit AeroSystems. This transition marks a significant step in Airbus' strategy to enhance its industrial capabilities and strengthen its supply chain.

As the Christmas season arrives in Pink Hill, one of the town’s most beloved traditions returns for its 65th year: the Miss Merry Christmas contest. Since 1960, this event has highlighted young women from the community who embody the spirit of service, kindness, and giving back.

The annual Kinston Christmas Parade will return on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, with an evening lineup scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. The parade will be livestreamed by Magic Mile Media, with BJ Murphy and Aleatha Thrower hosting from the newly lit Paramount Theater.
