Kinston man in custody after fatal shooting of wife, critical injuries to man and dog

A Kinston man is in custody of Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office investigators after allegedly killing his wife and severely wounding a man and a dog this morning.

During the 2025 BBQ Fest on the Neuse, the City of Kinston recognized four community leaders and organizations with the prestigious Mayoral Key to the City, honoring their exceptional service, leadership, and impact on the local and statewide community.

A Lenoir County dog trainer whose violent actions toward animals drew widespread outrage has been sentenced to jail time and probation after accepting a plea agreement.

The Town of Snow Hill is facing growing scrutiny after it was revealed that town officials have been in talks with Greene County leaders to potentially dissolve the Snow Hill Police Department — a development that caught the department’s own chief by surprise and has prompted public outcry.

Pete Fantini, commissioner for the Town of Pink Hill, has resigned from his position effective Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
