Pink Hill Commissioner Pete Fantini resigns, relocates to coast
PINK HILL — Pete Fantini, commissioner for the Town of Pink Hill, has resigned from his position effective Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
Fantini publicly confirmed his resignation on May 15. In a statement, he said the decision was personal and voluntary, citing a desire to focus on his family and a move out of the area.
“I have resigned as of Tuesday. No scandal or force. It’s time,” Fantini said. “My family has taken a beat down from the community because of the things I stood up to. I’ve served my country and communities my entire life. I think it’s time to just focus on serving my family’s needs. We have sold our home in Pink Hill and are moving to the coast. I would not be able to continue that position after the final sale went through.”
Fantini, a retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer, was elected to the board in September 2021. His seat will be vacated upon his departure, with the town expected to address the vacancy in the coming weeks.
The current members of the Pink Hill Board of Commissioners include Mayor Mike Horne, Commissioner Michael Whitfield, and Commissioner Penny Murphy.
No formal announcement has been made regarding a replacement for Fantini’s seat.
