Lenoir County's new SPCA facility celebrated its ribbon-cutting and grand opening at 3200 Hwy 258 North in Kinston on Monday. Thanks to a $1.7 million investment from USDA Rural Development and generous donations from the community, the facility boasts administrative offices, animal relinquishing and adoption areas, a laundry room, and an outdoor play space.
“As a newly-elected sheriff, I have been grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with and be mentored by experienced sheriffs and learn from experts in the field during each week of the Institute,” Sheriff Rogers said. “I look forward to applying the knowledge I gained as I work every day to keep our community safe.”
The Awards Day ceremony for the North Lenoir High School Class of 2024 will be held on Thursday, May 23, at 9 a.m. in the school's auditorium
The state’s seasonally adjusted January 2024 unemployment rate was 3.5 percent, decreasing 0.1 of a percentage point from December’s revised rate. The national rate remained unchanged at 3.7 percent.

SEVEN SPRINGS - Shortly after 3 p.m., today, Lenoir County 911 received a call reporting a home on fire on Tony’s Lane in Seven Springs. Firefighters from Deep Run, Sandy Bottom and Albertson fire departments responded and found heavy smoke and flames visible from a double-wide mobile home.
Javiar will enter the College of Education with aspirations of becoming an elementary school teacher. “I’ve always wanted to impact the lives of others,” he said. “It’s best to make that impact at a young age. I’m a firm believer in the Scripture, ‘Train up a child the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.’ If you teach them while they’re young, your hope is that they grow up and will never forget that teaching.”
On Sunday March 17 2024 at approximately 12:22pm City of Kinston Department of Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire at 2307 Carey Road. All companies responded to above address. Battalion 1 arrived on scene to a working fire from single story wood frame residential home with 50% involvement and established command .

When a variety of local history buffs began planning “Evenings on the Battlefield,” they wondered just how many people would pay the $150 fee to spend two days touring the Wyse Fork battlefield, visiting the CSS Neuse Museum, and learning the local history of this area.
Pink Hill is gearing up for its 7th annual EggStravaganza, a family-friendly Easter event that promises a day filled with fun, laughter, and community spirit.
