Kinston Department of Fire and Rescue Responds to a structure fire

On Sunday March 17 2024 at approximately 12:22pm City of Kinston Department of Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire at 2307 Carey Road. All companies responded to above address. Battalion 1 arrived on scene to a working fire from single story wood frame residential home with 50% involvement and established command .

Engine 22 established a water supply from the hydrant to the front of the structure. Hand lines were deployed and fire companies began to extinguish the fire. Due to a partial collapse of the structure fire companies had to move to a defensive operation.

Once it was determined the structure was safe to re enter fire companies were able to extinguish the fire within 30 minutes. The neighboring home did sustain damage due to the immense heat. The homeowners were at home at the time of the fire and one person was transported to UNC Lenoir for precautionary measures and later released.
