Dean of Workforce Development
The Dean of Workforce Development will plan, direct, and review the activities and operations of all workforce development programs, including Transitional and Career Studies, WIOA, Public Safety, and campus and community continuing education programs. The Dean will coordinate assigned activities with other college departments and outside agencies, and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Senior Vice President of Student Services and Workforce Development.
The duties of the Dean of Workforce Development include, but are not limited to:
ยท Maintain coordination with the Senior Vice President of Student Services and Workforce Development and division staff to facilitate the proper operation of the College environment
ยท Be responsible for divisional compliance with standards, procedures, and accreditation
ยท Participate in the process for hiring and screening of part-time and full-time educators and staff for the College
ยท Supervise the WIOA director and provide oversight for associated policies and procedures for compliance
ยท Develop, plan, and implement goals and objectives, policies and procedures, and new courses for curriculum and workforce development programs
ยท Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with business and industry partners as well as external agencies and accrediting bodies
ยท Supervise the activities and operation of all workforce development and public safety matters in Lenoir, Jones, and Greene Counties
ยท Evaluate and ensure that operations meet the goals and objectives of the College and the needs of the student population
ยท Establish and monitor program evaluation systems and procedures
ยท Assist in the conduct of external program evaluation as required
ยท Direct, oversee, and participate in the development of the continuing education work plans
ยท Assign work activities, projects, and programs; monitor workflow processes
ยท Review and evaluate work, methods, and procedures
ยท Work with employees to correct deficiencies and develop improvement plans
ยท Administer and direct the maintenance of various grants
ยท Develop and write grant proposals
ยท Ensure the College complies with pertinent grant requirements; prepare reports as required
ยท Plan, develop, and coordinate advertising for continuing education programs
ยท Prepare news releases, public service announcements, and a variety of other communication for the media
ยท Implement strategic plan priorities and initiatives
ยท Coordinate the development of promotional literature with continuing education staff
ยท Develop, lead, and coordinate associate deans, coordinators, directors, and support staff in the effort to produce and deliver quality instruction for all workforce development courses
ยท Lead staff in performance improvement for performance measures
ยท Review, modify, and evaluate goals and objectives annually for the Accountability and Integrity Plan
ยท Ensure compliance with required class visitations and documentation
ยท Assist with monitoring state and special budget expenditures and prepare necessary revisions
Qualifications
ยท Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution is required; doctorate preferred
ยท Minimum 3 yearsโ experience in the development and administration of community college instructional programs or administrative departments
ยท Experience with instruction and/or administration of curriculum and workforce development programs
ยท Experience directly supervising full-time community college personnel and demonstrated ability to lead others and build strong teams
ยท A record of community involvement and demonstrated ability to collaborate with business and industry partners
ยท Demonstrated strong work ethic, business acumen, and a growth mindset
Working Conditions
ยท Typical office environment
ยท Infrequently lifting and carrying items up to 10 lbs
ยท Infrequently twisting or bending at the waist or reaching overhead
ยท Infrequently traveling between buildings on campus, to other campuses, locally or out-of-town to attend meetings and conferences
ยท Frequently listening to and talking with students, faculty, and other staff members either in person or by phone
