Lenoir Community College graduate Dominic English has been named LCC’s Dallas Herring Award recipient for 2023. She is one of the Great 58 in the North Carolina Community College System. The Dallas Herring Award was established to honor the late Dr. Dallas herring, one of the state’s earliest advocates of community colleges.
Annette McDaniel, nurse case-manager at UNC Health Lenoir, and an employee this year for 40 years, says she was so surprised and a bit overwhelmed to learn recently that she is indeed related to the McDaniel family that started the hospital history in Kinston 117 years ago on June 27th.
Mildred L. Koonce Cunningham, 92, of Kinston, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Funeral service will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with visitation to follow.

Alan Hawkins (left) accepts a check for $1,000 from his friend, and Friends of the Library board member, Mike Parker, the grand prize for the 2023 annual fundraiser. The Friends of the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library holds the "I Love My Library" raffle to raise money to fund enhancements in library programming. Hawkins used his winnings to purchase season tickets to ECU Pirates football.
