For the past four years, Robert “Bob” Enders Jr. held the title of CEO at UNC Lenoir Health Care. He assumed the helm prior to the pandemic, and led the hospital through the Covid-19 surges. With the global emergency behind us, Enders said it was time to focus on his family. After a career that spanned about 40 years, he announced his retirement. His last day was Tuesday.
With assistance from the public, Zion McMillan (20) of Farmville, N.C. was identified as one of the assailants in the November 27th shooting that occurred at 1609-B W. Vernon Ave. Kinston, N.C. Warrants were obtained on McMillan for (2) Counts of Attempted First Degree Murder.
On Sunday, November 27th, 2022, at approximately 1:30am, members of the Kinston Police Department were dispatched to a report of shots fired at 1609-B W. Vernon Ave. Kinston, N.C. Upon arrival, officers were met with a large crowd that was present for a party.
UNC Lenoir Health Care is saddened to announce that long-time CEO, Gary Black, died suddenly this morning in Raleigh. Gary came to Lenoir Memorial Hospital in 1985 as its Chief Financial Officer and was promoted to President and CEO in 1992. He retired from LMH/UNC Lenoir Health Care in June 2018.
An unknown party has obtained patient related information including names, social security numbers, medical codes, street addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, and genders of over 4700 patients.
Lenoir Hospital Foundation recently provided $95,387 for 2022 funding to support UNC Lenoir Health Care projects. “Our goal is to enhance the work of our hospital. We select projects that are meaningful to the care we provide in our own community”, said Margaret Williams, Foundation Board Chairman.

Joyce Ann Moore, 76, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at UNC Lenoir Health Care. A graveside service will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2021 with Pastor Rick Mondell and Pastor Mike Dixon officiating.
Bryan A. Ehlert, M.D. has joined UNC Lenoir Health Care and Physicians Network to provide care and treatment of vascular conditions and diseases in Lenoir County. As a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon, Dr. Ehlert can diagnose, treat and manage a wide range of conditions of the arteries and veins utilizing medical therapy, minimally invasive procedures and surgical interventions. Vascular surgeons treat blood vessels in every part of the body except the heart and brain.
UNC Lenoir Health Care has introduced robotic-assisted orthopedic surgery which will advance hip and knee replacement surgery in eastern North Carolina. The system, known as Mako Smart Robotics is one of the first offered in this region.
