A virus is ravaging our country and our world. In spite of the overwhelming evidence that masks and vaccines work to limit sickness and death, there are people who endanger themselves and others, claiming rights under the banner of personal freedom. The U.S. Constitution, does not grant us so much personal freedom that we can disregard the rights and wellbeing of those around us.
In the summer of 2019, Billy Jarrell felt a call to start a new ministry focused on bringing automotive technicians and other “car geeks” together in a way that not only made spiritual connections but also allowed them the opportunity to serve others with their talents. The C.A.R.S. mission focus is to live out Colossians 3:17 “and whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
At this point in 2020, you might feel like me, and wish for help in figuring out how to take news in. So much conjecture, so much agenda, so much spin… and we are dealing with really big issues: This Spring we’ve had to wrestle with Covid, Racial Questions, and Protests. As the Fall comes we face Presidential Politics. It’s more important than ever that we remind ourselves how to digest the headlines, stories, information, data, and feelings that come at us like so many inter-continental ballistic missiles.
Our nation may be more divided right now along the lines of race that it has ever been before. Recent events have shaken our country. People of color are especially hurting, and many are angry. What our nation needs now is healing. In order to heal, we must come together. In order to come together, there must be understanding.
There’s one sentiment that is widely expressed today despite our race, social status, or faith, and that is nothing is normal anymore. The sudden and unexpected pandemic caused by COVID-19 (Corona Virus) has taken us all out of the realm that we called normal.
I was asked recently to submit a prayer for businesses that would be a part of a National Day of Prayer series for Neuse News. I immediately thought of all the small businesses that are struggling and many that are closed right now. I am intimately acquainted with the struggles of small businesses and small business owners. My grandfather opened and ran a small family business.
As we temporarily shut down Church services as well as many other activities throughout our land, there are several things we should keep in mind. First of all, this is not the time to panic.
It appears that our recent discussions have caused an update to be sent to all law enforcement across our state from our Governor that does differ from the information that was previously given. We received this at 4:16 p.m. Just like the last post, we can not give legal advice to every church, but we can make sure you have the information we have.
One of the many discoveries I made during my years of Dale Carnegie teaching was that one of the greatest desires of human beings is to feel important, whether at any level of achievement or at any age. Sometimes we tend to overlook that even the young and the very young need positive recognition.
Over the next month or so, many will gather with family and friends to eat and to celebrate. However, for some, the holiday season will not be a time of happiness and celebration. The reality is that many people grieve during this time of year.
A definition of faith: The area was very dry, so all the villagers decided to pray for rain. On the day of prayer all the people gathered, but only one little boy came with an umbrella. That's faith! Today, I want to look back a few years and expand on some thoughts I shared with you then.
